Academic Programs in Social Work

by the numbersThe College of Social Work is a national and international leader in social work education. Our fully accredited academic programs are dedicated to the preparation of social work professionals to pursue the goals of promoting social justice and serving vulnerable populations. We are infusing sustainability into the curriculum for each degree as the CoSW “goes green.” In our programs, you will receive the broad intellectual foundation combined with practical field experience that you will need to succeed in the social work profession.

  • Undergraduate - BSW (Bachelor of Social Work)
We offer both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree and a minor in Social Work. These programs effectively prepare graduates for generalist social work practice in a wide variety of settings.
  • Graduate Program - MSW (Master of Social Work)
The Master of Social Work degree prepares graduates to work effectively, ethically, and collaboratively in diverse settings. Our program includes specializations in five different areas, which will allow you to address the major challenges in our society—from impoverished communities to mental illness. We also offer dual degree programs with public health, public administration, and law, providing graduates with even broader academic experiences and professional opportunities.
  • Graduate Certificate Programs
Certificate Programs are available in the following high-demand fields of practice: Gerontology, Drug and Addiction Studies, Social and Behavioral Health with Military Members, Veterans, and Military Families, and Women's and Gender Studies.
