Application Deadlines

The application deadline for the Advanced Standing Program is February 1.
The application deadline for the Full-time and Part-time Programs is March 1.

Admission to the Full-time Program (FT) and Part-time 33-month Program (PT or PT 33) is available only for the fall semester.

The Advanced Standing (ADST) Program is available for applicants with a BSW degree earned within the past six years from a CSWE-accredited program. Advanced Standing Program begins in Summer Session.

Admission to the master's degree program is selective. Intellectual maturity, emotional stability, motivation, and capacity to work with people are essential qualifications in addition to a sound educational foundation with a liberal arts perspective. Specific requirements for admission include:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Cumulative GPA of a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) from your bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree institution
  • Applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 must submit official GRE scores. Successful applicants typically have a combined score of 800 on the GRE taken prior to August 2011, or a score of “4” on the analytical writing portion of the current general GRE
  • Submit official transcripts from EACH institution you attended
  • Resume
  • Autobiographical statement
  • Two letters of recommendation (three preferred) from professors or employers
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores for applicants whose native language is not English

Individuals are selected who have the strongest qualifications in terms of the college's admission criteria: grade point average, GRE scores, autobiography (content and writing quality), references, work and volunteer experience, and commitment to social work values. The College of Social Work is committed to diversity in the student body.

The application must be submitted online to the Graduate School at:
