  • African-American Professors Program:  A joint effort between USC, the Kellogg Foundation, and the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education, this program offers graduate assistantships of $15,000-$18,000 per year for African-American students interested in becoming professors.  Visit the website at http://www.ed.sc.edu/aapp/index.html

  • SREB Doctoral Scholar and Dissertation-Year Fellowship Awards:  These awards supply eligible minority students with tuition waivers, annual stipends of $12,000, and funds for books, supplies, and travel.  Visit http://www.sreb.org/programs/dsp/dspindex.asp
  • Hartford Doctoral Fellows Program in Geriatric Social Work:  Sponsored by the Gerontological Society of America, this program provides $20,000 per year to students who seek to improve the well-being of older persons, their families, and caregivers through their dissertation research.   Visit http://www.geron.org/Hartford/docfellows.htm#about

  • Jane B. Aron and Eileen Blackey Doctoral Fellowships:  Funded by NASW, these grants of $4000 are awarded to doctoral candidates whose dissertations focus on health care and welfare policy and practice.  See http://www.naswfoundation.org/national.html
