Mr. Sung Kyun Choi

Mr. Sung Kyun Choi was elected to serve as president of the Korea Association of Social Workers (KASW) 2002-2005. Mr. Choi is a member of the first graduating class of the College of Social Work's Korea-based Masters of Social Work (MSW) program in 1995.

The KASW membership accounts for about 60,000 with 280 delegation members. Delegates vote the president for the 3-year term, with one renewable appointment. Mr. Choi was duly elected with an impressive 80% of the vote. KASW memberships consist of professional social workers holding advanced degrees in social work.

He completed a graduate work seminar from Louisiana State University in 1991 and earned his MSW from the University of South Carolina in 1995 in the College's Korea-based MSW Program.

Mr. Choi has occupied leadership positions for private and public social work agencies. He is a Class I Social Worker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Gerontological Social Work Specialist as recognized by KASW. Scholarly publications include: Vocational Training for the Youth: An Aftercare Model (1985); The KASW: 30 Years of History (1990); and Korean Social Workers Today (1997).
