The mission of the BSW program is to prepare graduates for ethical, competent, and culturally relevant generalist practice with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations.

The purpose of the profession of social work is to enhance the social functioning and interactions of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities by involving them in setting and accomplishing goals, developing and managing resources, and preventing and alleviating distress.

Social workers recognize the strengths and resilience of clients and client systems and seek to enhance the capacity of people to address their own needs. Core values of the profession include service, social and economic justice, the dignity and worth of each person, and the importance of human relationships.
