Board of Trustees

Governance

The Board of Trustees, created in 1801, manages the university with well-defined standards and orderly oversight. The group discharges its duties through ratified bylaws, adopted policies and board documentation.

The University of South Carolina system is guided by a set of established bylaws , which were revised and updated in 2023. The bylaws are supported by standardized policies and procedures that are applied on all campuses. The Board of Trustees also adheres to an Oath of Office, Code of Conduct and Statement of Commitment.
