Our Undergraduate Program
The Department of Biological Sciences offers a program of courses for students seeking an undergraduate degree in biology, as well as courses for students who need to satisfy specific requirements for other majors including nursing, pharmacy, public health, and other programs. Our students gain a comprehensive background in cellular and molecular biology, genetics, ecology and evolution, while tailoring the degree to their interests through a variety of upper-level courses. They also have the opportunity to directly participate in their professors' research projects ranging from molecular and cellular biology to evolutionary biology and population ecology. Student’s undergraduate research efforts can allow them to receive academic credit towards the progression of their major coursework. Students can also receive financial support for research from either research grants or several competitive fellowship programs offered by USC.
Our Graduate Programs
The Department of Biological Sciences offers three research-based graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biology, with research specializations in the areas of stem cell and developmental biology, neurobiology, cancer biology, biology of cellular stress, plant biology, ecology, evolution, and marine biology.
