Instructions, including Access to the Tests
Please read these instructions before starting your test.
All students must meet the prerequisite for any MATH course that they take at USC. For some courses this prerequisite is met after taking the Math Assessment of Prerequisites (MAP). This assessment allows students to gauge how their math skills translate into each relevant course.
The MAP for incoming and transfer students will close on August 28, 2023 at 11:59
pm.
The assessment will resume with in-person testing sessions offered in the Math Learning
Center.
Please register for these sessions after September 15, 2023.

Practice tests will give you a good idea of what to expect on the placement tests.
Many USC MATH courses have prerequisites you must meet before you can register for them. Some involve success completion of another MATH course, others require a qualifying score on the MAP, MPT, or a combination of the previous two options.
If you have taken an AP Calculus or IB Mathematics (higher level) test and are waiting for the scores to come to USC to satisfy a prerequisite, or if you are waiting for course credit from another College or University in order to satisfy a prerequisite, you may qualify for a prerequisite override. To request an override, complete this Temporary Prerequisite Override Request form .
In some cases, you may need an override to get into a course.
