Miyoung Jeong, Ph.D., joined the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of South Carolina in August, 2015, as an associate professor. In January of 2018, Jeong was named professor. Prior to coming to the School of HTMT, Jeong was on the faculty of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she served as a Ph.D. coordinator. For nine years, she also worked in the Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management Department at Iowa State University as an assistant and then associate professor. 

Jeong's research work has been published in hospitality, tourism and general business journals and presented in various national and international conferences. She has also published book chapters and an edited book. During her academic career, Jeong has won prestigious awards such as the W. Bradford Wiley Memorial Research Award two times — in 2008 and 1997 — Best Article of the Year by International Journal of Hospitality Management in 2004, and numerous best paper awards at conferences. She has also won various competitive research grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, American Hotel and Lodging Educational Foundation, UNLV’s Caesars Hospitality Research Center, and other non-profit organizations.

Jeong has two children and loves to shop with her daughter. Her family is athletic and often participates in 5K runs.
