Spring COVID-19 testing update

After more than two years of mass testing on campus, beginning in January 2023, the university will discontinue mass testing and modify infectious disease mitigation strategies to treat COVID-19. This decision is based on the wide availability of COVID-19 vaccinations, boosters and home test kits in the community as well as declining demand for on-campus testing.

UofSC's education, nursing online offerings ranked among nation's best

U.S. News and World Report released its annual ranking of online graduate programs on Tuesday (Jan. 15) and UofSC’s education and nursing online graduate programs both excelled, with the College of Nursing’s programs ranking No. 6 overall (No. 3 among public programs) and the College of Education’s online graduate offerings ranking No. 34 in the nation.

Pastides honored with Fulbright award

University of South Carolina President Harris Pastides is one of seven Fulbright alumni who will receive the inaugural IIE Global Changemaker Award in celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Fulbright Program. The awards recognize the achievements of the individuals throughout their careers and highlight the impact the Fulbright program has had throughout its history.

UofSC excels in latest U.S. News college rankings

The University of South Carolina achieved its highest ranking ever in the new U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Colleges” list. The school moved up three slots from last year and is now ranked 49th among all public universities. Among state flagship universities, USC ranks 27th nationwide.

UofSC sweeps governor's science awards

University of South Carolina researchers took home four prizes at Monday’s 2016 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Science, a clean sweep for Carolina in all categories. The prizes, presented by Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster at a Statehouse ceremony, have been awarded to top South Carolina researchers since 1989 and are designed to celebrate achievement in an array of scientific fields.

UofSC names new engineering and computing dean

A distinguished engineering researcher with experience in forming industry partnerships has been hired to lead the University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering and Computing. Hossein Haj-Hariri, an MIT-trained scientist who most recently served as professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, was appointed dean on Tuesday. Haj-Hariri will spearhead efforts to build on the university’s strength in critical research areas such as energy, cyber security, aerospace and materials.
